Why this programme

Installation quality: your first revenue driver

Every revisit, every punch-list item and every latent fault eats into margin and delays payment. The SQT programme trains your teams to deliver compliant sites first time.

The quality virtuous circle

  1. SQT trainingQualified technicians
  2. Compliant installationFirst Time Right
  3. Fast acceptanceNo punch list
  4. InvoicingEarlier payment
  5. Higher vendor ratingMore volume

The cost of poor quality

Quality defectFinancial impact
Corrective revisit (travel, crew, aerial lift)Direct, non-billable cost
Punch-list item at acceptanceDelayed invoicing and payment
Rollout schedule delayPotential contractual penalties
Latent fault (water ingress, faulty grounding)Warranty call-out at your expense
Poor vendor quality scoreFewer purchase orders, risk of delisting

SQT-01

Telecom Network Fundamentals, 2G – 5G

Understand mobile network architecture and the role of every piece of equipment installed on site.

Objectives and outline
  • Architecture: radio access, transmission, core network
  • 2G to 5G generations and their equipment (BTS, NodeB, eNodeB, gNodeB)
  • Site units: BBU, RRU/AAU, antennas, power, transmission
  • RF basics: frequency, power (dBm), losses, coverage
  • Assessment: 20-question MCQ, 70% pass mark
1 day · 7 hFoundationNo prerequisites
SQT-02

Radio Planning and Site Survey

Carry out a complete, usable site survey first time, in line with operator requirements.

Objectives and outline
  • Link budget, azimuth, tilt, antenna height
  • Preparation: survey pack, GPS, compass, inclinometer, rangefinder, PPE
  • On site: coordinates, panoramic photos, equipment locations, cable routes, power
  • TSSR report: structure, drawings, bill of materials, checklist
  • Assessment: writing a survey report scored against a grid
1 day · 7 hIntermediateRequires SQT-01
SQT-03

Antenna Systems and RX Reception

Master the antenna line and understand how each installation defect degrades the received signal.

Objectives and outline
  • Multiband antennas, RET, ±45° cross-polarisation
  • Transmission line: losses, connectors, bend radius
  • Measurements: VSWR, return loss, DTF, PIM
  • Reception: sensitivity, diversity, RSSI imbalance
  • Assessment: MCQ + interpretation of 3 measurement traces

SQT-04

Installation Standards and Site Equipment

Install a site that meets vendor and operator standards, first time (First Time Right).

4 hands-on workshops
  • 04-1 Antenna system installation: brackets, torque, azimuth, tilt, labelling
  • 04-2 RRU/RRH: DC power, CPRI fibre, connector inspection
  • 04-3 Feeders, jumpers and connectors: routing, VSWR and PIM measurements
  • 04-4 Grounding, lightning protection and multi-layer weatherproofing
  • Practical assessment on a training rig or pilot site + MCQ

SQT-05

Quality Control and Site Audit

Implement self-inspection and auditing to deliver sites accepted with no punch list.

Objectives and outline
  • Quality checklist for each site type
  • Audit: sampling, classification of non-conformities
  • Acceptance pack: photos, measurements, as-built
  • KPIs: First Time Right rate, punch-list rate, time to close
  • Assessment: simulated audit on a real photo pack

SQT-06

Organisation, Quality and Cost per Site

Link organisation and field quality to the subcontractor's financial performance.

Objectives and outline
  • Roles and responsibilities (RACI) on a rollout project
  • Communication, reporting and escalation with the main contractor
  • Cost per site and cost of poor quality
  • Workshop: simulation on a batch of sites, before and after a quality plan
  • Assessment: costed case study presented as a group
